Fatal shooting of 42-year-old man marks Milwaukee's 165th homicide of 2020, tying 1991 record

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday night, Nov. 5.

Witnesses say the victim, a 42-year-old West Milwaukee man, was standing on the side of a home near 24th and Keefe around 5:05 p.m. when they heard multiple gunshots and saw the man collapse. 

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Police continue to seek unknown suspects.

The Milwaukee County medical examiner says an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

This fatality marks the 165th homicide in the city of Milwaukee this year, tying a grim record set in 1991.

Milwaukee County is also seeing historic homicide numbers.

On Oct. 26, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said homicide numbers exceed the all-time record of 174 set in 1993.
