MCTS: Proposed budget cuts would cause 20% cut in service, affect nearly half of routes

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is honking its horns and sounding the alarm on proposed budget cuts.

MCTS says if state and local lawmakers don't act, it is facing a $26.5 million budget shortfall for 2025.

That translates to a 20% cut in services and nearly half of all routes in the system.

MCTS says the reduction in services could keep "literally millions of riders" from getting where they need to go.

They've launched a campaign asking for public support.
