McDonald’s Introduces First Burger Without A Bun!

(CBS CHICAGO) McDonald’s in Texas has just debuted a new sandwich – its first without a bun!

The Lone Star Stack was concocted by Joseph Peña of Houston, who submitted his recipe to the McBurger Showdown .

“We wanted to give Texans a burger that truly captures the flavor of our great state. It was also important for us to reach out to our guests and lean on their Texan pride. As you can imagine, most of the creations were spicy, large and, of course, loaded with bacon,” David Glaser, a local McDonald’s Texas owner, said in a press release. “The McDonald’s Burger Showdown Challenge allowed us to bond with our customers and showcase our high-quality ingredients.”

The sandwich is made up of two beef patties, sweet onion barbecue sauce, cartelized onions, Applewood smoked bacon, American and white cheddar cheeses and crinkle-cut pickles and two thick slices of Texas toast.

It will be available only in Texas through August 28!
