Mayor Barrett helps kick off National Disability Voter Registration Week

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett marked National Disability Voter Registration Week with an event in Milwaukee Monday.

Mayor Barrett helped show off accessible voting machines as well as the city's effort to increase access for all voters.

Barrett says the city is committed to allowing everyone access to their right to vote as citizens.

"We have an obligation to make sure that people are involved in our democracy. To me, democracy is the ultimate participatory sport. It works only as well as we the people make it work," Mayor Barrett said.

Monday's event is just one of many through the week, including registration drives ahead of the busy 2020 election season.
