MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --César Chávez was an advocate for social justice and this year, The Marcus Center is honoring his legacy by hosting the first "César Chávez Birthday Celebration."
The inaugural event will focus on educating communities about the legacy of César Chávez.
Building on the success of the Marcus Center's Dr. King Birthday event, this event will engage students through providing an art, essay, and spoken word contest.
The celebration will take place Sunday, Mar. 24, 2019 in Uihlein Hall with a program (1-3 p.m.) followed by a family celebration (3- 4 p.m.) in the Bradley Pavilion.
The program and celebration will also feature performances from local musicians and dancers, along with acknowledgements and remembrances from community leaders.
