Man sentenced to 15 years in chase that killed driver near 13th and Morgan

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Robert Matagi was sentenced Wednesday, September 25, to 15 years in prison for leading a deputy on a chase in Milwaukee County that ended in the death of an innocent driver.

Matagi pleaded no contest in court on August 21, to the charge of hit and run involving death.

The victim in the crash was identified as 25-year-old Pedro Colon-Ortiz.

Authorities say Matagi led them on a chase that started on the interstate back in April. He took an exit during the chase, ran a red light, and crashed into another car, killing Colon-Ortiz.

Matagi was sentenced to 25 years in prison with 15 years initial confinement and 10 years extended supervision.
