Man Rescued from Ice in Oshkosh

(WFRV) A man remains in the hospital Friday morning after he fell through the ice into the Fox River near Oshkosh.

At around 11:30 p.m. first responders were called to the mouth of the Fox River where someone had heard someone calling for help. When they arrived they found a man on the ice in frozen clothing.

With the help of the Oshkosh Fire Department's airboat, he was taken to the hospital and treated for exposure and hypothermia.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says the man was driving when his vehicle entered the mouth of the Fox River. He was able to escape his vehicle while it was sinking, and pulled himself up on the ice.
