Man Guilty of Killing and Dismembering Girlfriend
(CBSNews) LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A Kentucky man has been convicted of killing and dismembering a woman nearly two years ago.
News outlets report a Fayette County jury found 60-year-old Paris R. Charles guilty Wednesday of murder and abuse of a corpse charges in 50-year-old Goldia Massey’s death. Massey was Charles’ girlfriend, reports CBS affiliate WKYT.
Massey’s son reported her missing in October 2014. Her arm was found along the Kentucky River in Henry County that month. Her torso was found along the river in Jessamine County that December.
Charles was arrested in February 2015. Prosecutors said police found box cutters, saws and saw blades in Charles’ home during a search. They also found large amounts of Massey’s blood, leading them to believe that was where the woman was killed, reports CBS affiliate WKYT.
Investigators still don’t know how the woman died, the station reports.
The jury recommended a 35-year prison sentence on the murder charge, and a year in jail and $500 fine for the abuse of a corpse charge.
Charles’ sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 8.
