MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An 18-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Tuesday, for a shooting that injured six people following a Juneteenth celebration in 2023.

Court records show Arnez Lee-King pleaded guilty to first degree reckless injury, first degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of a firearm. Four counts were dismissed.

Six people between the ages of 14 and 19 years old were injured in the shooting near MLK Drive and Locust.

"In terms of general deterrence, this shows young peers that firearms and adult decisions carry adult consequences," said defense attorney Morgan Minter. "He has been incarcerated for this for 889 days, in the adult system at 16 for 404 days."

"But that juvenile record shows a kid who was really out of control and was not- and I think is not safe out in the community at this time," Prosecuting attorney Owen Piotrowski said.

According to a criminal complaint, Lee-King identified himself in cellphone video from the night of the shooting.

Officials said he was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the incident, for two armed robberies and a gun charge.
