Man charged in 2018 Brookfield jewelry store theft

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) – A man is charged in connection to a September 2018 theft at the Jared Galleria of Jewelry in Brookfield.

According to a criminal complaint, Trevon McIntosh is facing charges of felony retail theft, criminal damage to property and obstructing an officer.

Court documents state authorities were called to store around 4 p.m. on September 2, 2018 for a reported robbery.

Police say a witness saw two people enter the store with masks and hoods on. They were allegedly carrying hammers and smashed the jewelry display cases and removed diamonds. The suspects then left the area in a Blue Kia Soul. Some officers went to find the car while others responded to the store.

Court documents state the suspects left the store with 24 diamonds worth $118,459.

An officer in the area spotted the suspect car and a chase began. Three suspects inside of the car eventually got out and ran after police used a tire deflation device on the car.

McIntosh was later spotted walking on Greenfield Avenue and taken to the Brookfield Police Department. He gave a sample of DNA that was later connected to a white face mask worn during the robbery.

If convicted, McIntosh faces more than 5 years in prison and $30,000 in fines.
