Man asked Fellow Inmate to Kill a Wisconsin Police Officer

MADISON, Wis. (CHANNEL 3000) -

A Madison man serving time at the Dane County Jail is accused of asking another inmate to kill a Madison police officer, according to Madison police.

Madison police said Alijouwon T. Watkins, 20, actively sought someone to kill an MPD office and took steps to put a plan in motion, including the transfer of money. Police said Watkins had personal identifying information about the officer, including his name, date of birth, address and a cellphone number.

Police said the officer has previously arrested Watkins and that it involved a violent confrontation.

Watkins is also accused of trying to find someone who would claim to have witnessed the prior incident and provide false testimony.

Police are asking that Watkins be charged with conspiracy to commit homicide and solicitation to commit perjury.

Watkins is expected to appear in court Friday afternoon.
