Man arrested in connection with shooting of two children in van

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting of two children who were sitting in their family's van. The shooting came after Lashawn James, the man driving the family van, got into a dispute with another adult.

Police say they've arrested a 27-year-old Milwaukee man in connection with the July 23 shooting. The suspect will not be identified until he is formally charged with a crime by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

One day after the shooting the house where the children lived was condemned by Milwaukee inspectors. The children's mother has been charged with seven counts of child neglect. Officials say they found feces in the home as well as an insect infestation. The seven children who were living in the house have been placed with family members. READ MORE ABOUT THE HOME HERE.
