Man arrested for 7th OWI offense in Dane County

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin State Patrol arrested a 40-year-old Wisconsin Dells man Sunday, Oct. 17, for his 7th operating a motor vehicle under the influence offense.

Authorities say the incident happened at approximately 4:43 p.m. Sunday near I-39/90 SB near US 12/18 in Dane County.

Officials name the suspect as 40-year-old James J Swartz from the Wisconsin Dells.

The Wisconsin State Patrol DeForest Post reportedly received a report Sunday afternoon of a 2006 Ford pickup truck unable to maintain its designated lane.

Records show that state troopers later located and stopped the pickup along I-39/90 southbound near US 12/18. 

Swartz was reportedly found showing signs of impairment in the vehicle and was later arrested following a standardized field sobriety test.

Authorities say that Swartz was later booked into the Dane County jail.

Officials add that Swartz's charges include 7th offense operating while under the influence, possession of THC, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
