Man accused of shooting at Wauwatosa police officer facing attempted homicide charge

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) – A 23-year-old Milwaukee man is charged with attempted homicide after police say he fired at officers on January 9.

According to the criminal complaint, police tried to pull over Shavell Ball because the vehicle he was driving matched the description of one that had been reported stolen on January 3.

Police say he drove off until the car crashed near 85th and Concordia in Milwaukee. Wauwatosa Police say Ball got out of the car, pointed a gun at officers, and started shooting. Officers returned fire and shot Ball who was later taken to the hospital and released.

Investigators say they found three bullet holes in the officer’s squad car. In addition to the charge of attempted homicide, Ball is also charged with fleeing from police and causing damage to property.
