Malfunctioning Warning Siren Causes Stir in Port Washington

A warning siren near the city of Port Washington in Ozaukee County has been going off when there is no cause for alarm. The Ozaukee County Emergency Management posted this message to residents on their Facebook page:

Good Morning. Our office is well aware of the continuing malfunction of one of the Outdoor Warning sirens in the City of Port Washington. As of this morning the City has taking that siren out of service. Ozaukee County DOES NOT own, maintain or have any authority over the operation or maintenance of the sirens in the City of Port Washington. These are City owned and we have been in a dialog with them about the issues. Please direct your questions, complaints and concerns to the Port Washington WI Police Department (262) 284-2611, City Hall (262) 284-2600 and your Wards Alderman. The City has been made aware of all complaints and questions we have received to date. Our office will be issuing a press release later today on this issue. Thank you for your input and concern over this serious issue.

The Port Washington Police Department said that the siren on the north side of the city has been going on and off for the past few days for no apparent reason. The Police Department is working on getting the siren fixed.
