Maldonado blast not enough as Brewers fall to Cards again

Milwaukee -

Martin Maldonado hit a three-run homer off Jaime Garcia, but the Brewers could only muster one more run in a 5-4 loss to the Cardinals Wednesday night at Miller Park.

Tommy Pham homered twice off Wily Peralta, who allowed five runs to the Redbirds in just four innings. Tyler Cravy, Cesar Jimenez and Kyle Lohse combined to throw five scoreless innings in relief of Peralta.

Maldonado and Elian Herrera tallied two hits each. Ryan Braun was scratched from the Brewers lineup because of lower back tightness, something Braun said could be bothering him for the rest of the regular season.

The Brewers and Cardinals play one more time Thursday afternoon before the Cincinnati Reds come to Miller Park for three games this weekend.
