BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The big screen is back -- that's the message from Milwaukee-based Marcus Theaters.
Thursday night, at Majestic Cinema in Brookfield, co-presidents and CEOs Rolando Rodriguez and Greg Marcus kicked off Cinema Week.
It's part of a nationwide effort by theaters and film companies to welcome people back to theaters that were hit hard by the pandemic.
The first major movie of the summer, Fast and Furious 9, hit big screens Thursday night.
"Fast and Furious 9 is opening up, which is a great movie, and that will be followed by two to three films every week, and that builds momentum. So we got consumer confidence working on our behalf, the fact that the entire country is opening up, consumers are feeling much better," said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez and Marcus, themselves, welcomed movie-goers with free bags of popcorn.
