Madison named best place to retire by Money.com
MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Money.com made a list of the top ten places to retire, and Wisconsin's capitol took the number one spot.
"A college town in the Badger State might not spring to mind as an ideal place to retire, but with tons of recreational activities and natural beauty, Madison, Wis. - a metropolitan area sandwiched between two lakes - has taken the top spot on our list," Money.com said.
Money says they picked Madison because the city has the lowest median home price out of its winners, which is $292,200. Madison also had the most retirement communities out of its winners, which is 38.
Money also cited those 60 years old and older can audit courses for free at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
Money looked at 47,500 data points considering housing, safety, diversity, and climate.
The article, published Monday, Nov. 23, also noted the city's 185 days of sunshine a year and free events, art institutions, and Wisconsin's low sales tax.
