Racine & Me: Party on the Pavement returns to Downtown Racine

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) — The spotlight will shine on downtown Racine on Saturday, Sept. 19, when Party on the Pavement returns for its 23rd year.

The popular 12-block street festival will run from noon to 7 p.m., bringing live music, food, shopping and family-friendly entertainment throughout downtown.

"We couldn't be more excited for this year's festival — it's bigger and better than ever, with more entertainment, quality vendors and activities to experience," said Kelly Kruse, executive director of the Downtown Racine Corporation. "We're ready for an incredible day!"

Admission is free. Party on the Pavement will take place along Main Street from State Street to Seventh Street and along Sixth Street from Lake Avenue to City Hall.

New this year, live wrestling will take place at Main and Sixth streets from 2 to 5 p.m.

The Division BMX Stunt Team will perform on College Avenue and Sixth Street at 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Sweatshop Movement will bring hip-hop and breakdance battles to Wisconsin Avenue and Sixth Street throughout the day.

The Mini-German Fest will also return near Sixth Street and Park Avenue with Bavarian music, bratwurst, pretzels, schnitzel and German beer. Bernie Brewer and Brat, one of the Famous Racing Sausages, are scheduled to make appearances from 2 to 3 p.m.

Other activities include disc golf, axe throwing, a mechanical bull, a classic car show on Sam Johnson Parkway and performances from Racine Gymnastics.

Music will be featured on several stages throughout downtown, with performances spanning blues, rock, jazz, R&B, Tejano and more.

Scheduled performers include Lake Effect, Peacetree Allstars, Indigo Canyon, Prodigal Sons, Shameless Place, Buzzerd, Moon Child, Joe Contreras y Ambicion, Milwaukee Alpenblaser and Tally Ho! Brass Band.

Festivalgoers will also be able to choose from a wide variety of food from downtown restaurants and vendors, including Asian, Mediterranean, German, Venezuelan, Mexican, Italian and Greek cuisine.

Party on the Pavement is presented by the Downtown Racine Corporation, American Place Casino, Zeigler Honda of Racine, S.C. Johnson, Educators Credit Union, Zeigler Hyundai and Enjoy Mount Pleasant.

The event was named Best Event in the State in 2022 by Wisconsin Main Street.
