Lumberjack World Championships begin in Hayward

HAYWARD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- For more than 60 years, Hayward, Wisconsin has been the perfect place to host "The Olympics of the Forest."

The Lumberjack World Championship kicks off Thursday.

It draws spectators from near and far, with more than 100 local and international professionals competing. 

Events include sawing, chopping, log-rolling, and boom-running -- running on logs that are lined up on water.

The event runs through Sunday.
