MEQUON (CBS 58) -- Several local teenage leaders are being recognized for making a difference in the community.

Members of the nonprofit organization, Friendship Circle,  who work with children and adults with special needs, were honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award.

It’s given to only a limited number of people for their service.

A ceremony was held for the recipients Wednesday night in Mequon.

“It was about making them feel welcomed and included in life," said Natanel Monosov. "That's what it's really about to me. Giving opportunities to people who might not have them, even though they're just as amazing as any other person."

The teens had to meet a number of requirements to qualify for the presidential award.
