Burn survivor, care team celebrate progress in a long road to recovery

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- 61-year-old Jim Heinemann from Milwaukee hopes this Christmas won't be like this past one. On December 18th of last year, he suffered second and third degree burns while welding under a truck. Sparks flew, lighting him on fire. He stayed in the hospital for several months at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Regional Burn Center then had to undergo intense rehab. The doctors didn't know if he could survive this. But he proved them wrong thanks to a strong will and support system with people all around him. Michael Schlesinger had the chance to speak with Jim, his wife, and some of his medical team.
