Wisconsin State Fair 2026 ends differently than 2025’s abrupt conclusion due to flooding
CBS 58 WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) – The Wisconsin State Fair came to a close on Sunday, August 16. Vendors worked in hot and muggy conditions, which is what many expect during the 11-day event.
“It's much better than last year,” said Leah Moll, an employee with S&J Popcorn.
The final day of the 2025 Wisconsin State Fair was canceled due to flash flooding overnight. Alexa Reyes, a co-owner of Lumpia City behind the 2025 Sporkies Competition winning dish, was disappointed to see the fair come to an early end.
“I had some employees leave, and then I got a text saying they were in knee-deep water,” Reyes said.
“It was a real bummer, and because we were the Sporkies winner, we were really excited to finish out the year.”
“It was a whole day lost in sales and in just everyone wanting to come on out, and we couldn’t because we closed down,” Moll said .”I didn’t know that the Wisconsin State Fair closed down like that before.”
Luckily, both businesses said they had a successful run at the fair in 2026.
“We all kind of have some trauma, but, I think this year’s been a lot nicer with the sun and it’s definitely helped with sales and traffic,” Reyes said.
The Wisconsin State Fair brought in 892,968 people across its 10 days in 2025. We expect the attendance numbers for the 2026 event to be announced this week.
