Local singer/songwriter Hayward Williams talks about playing Summerfest

 \"If you're not getting excited about playing Summerfest, then I don't know what to do for you,\" said Waukesha born musician Hayward Williams.

The singer/songwriter who now lives in Bay View chatted live on the CBS 58 News at 4:30 p.m. right before hitting the new music stage.

CBS 58 News at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. is broadcasting each weekday live from the Big Gig for its entire run.

Williams said he's heavily influenced by Van Morrison and Bruce Springsteen.

\"It's all filtered through me and the kind of music you can only make in the Midwest,\" Williams explained.\"It's thoughtful and passionate and carries all the weather and elements we go through.\"

Williams' experience of going through exhaustion after a tour inspired the album \"The Reef\" which on his official web page recounts the slow, doubt-stricken, but steady process of learning how to think, feel, write and perform again. 

He told CBS 58 News that the Milwaukee music scene is \"knitted\" and supportive of each other. 

\"Everyone knows everyone and we're supportive of each other.
