MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local Red Cross volunteer has a busy time ahead of her over the course of the next two weeks.
Julie Solocheck took a mid-morning flight to Florida Thursday to help with relief efforts following the destruction from Hurricane Michael.
While she doesn't know exactly what she'll be doing or where she'll be stationed, she realizes her job as a nurse will be invaluable.
"Fortunate I have the time and availability. Not easy, a nice vacation. Get more than you give. Helping people out of their homes. Displaced. Lost so many of their possessions, give it back," Solocheck said.
Solocheck has been a licensed nurse for 30 years and an American Red Cross volunteer for nine months. This is the first time she's helped in a natural disaster.
