MATC students, staff participate in Lunar New Year celebrations
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Third graders showed off their video games that they learned to code themselves through a program from SHARP Literacy and Milwaukee Area Technical College that works with students from Milwaukee and Waukesha.
The kids learned block coding so they could make a game where they get to tell a story, design characters and play with sounds.
They got help from MATC students in the college's video game design program.
Now, as we are evolving within our society, not only will they be able to decide if they want to be programmers or coders or gamers, but learning that, they are able to be a part of the true ecosystem of the workforce that we need now," said Tamela Smith, SHARP Literacy vice president of programs and partnerships.
An education that prepares students to be a part of the future of technology.
