Local man donates dictionaries in memory of late wife

MILWAUKEE-Barry James lost his wife suddenly five years ago. Since then, he's made it his mission to pass along her love of reading.

Along with his daughters, James founded the \"Diane's Dictionaries Program\" where dictionaries are placed in the hands of young students, encouraging them to read and improve their vocabulary skills.

\"You can't buy this,\" James said of the impact of watching his donations at work, \" You take pictures,  of these kids just looking at these dictionaries. They're reading, they're sharing. Some of them don't even own books. This is going to be a great way for them to start and it make you feel great.\"

The program is now in three local schools and has given away dictionaries to 1,200 students.
