MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local lawmaker wants a Milwaukee school to lose its funding after an employee's gun went off and hurt a student.
The bullet grazed the student April 5 at St. Josaphat Parish School but the police didn't hear about it until two weeks later.
State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa accuses the school of trying to cover it up.
"I'm aghast at the fact that the school tried to keep it from her parents. Again, the broader community, law enforcement, this coverup is unbelievable to me," said State Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa.
School officials say the employee was immediately fired. They were arrested and charges are expected.
