Local Halloween stores sell Slenderman costume

MILWAUKEE -- The online horror character referenced in the attempted murder of a 12-year-old Waukesha girl is now a Halloween costume being sold in Southeast Wisconsin. Costume shoppers tell us the decision to sell the Slenderman costume is tacky and inappropriate.

Slenderman allegedly inspired two 12-year-old girls to brutally stab another 12-year-old girl 19 times in Waukesha. The girls read about Slenderman on the internet, and Slenderman is now showing up in local stores.

Shoppers share their opinions on the selling of a Slenderman costume at Spirit Halloween Stores. Tom Voell says, \" I don't think they made a good judgment call, bad judgment actually, because of recent stuff that happened with Slenderman.\"

One teenager says he doesn't think teens would be violent while dressed up as Slenderman, but believes selling the costume in Southeast Wisconsin is inappropriate.

We contacted Spencer Gifts LLC, the company who runs Spirit Halloween, who told us, \"We carried the costume before the incident, and we don't think the sale of the costume in anyway condones the actions of violence.\"
