(CBS 58) -- Local fire departments are taking to social media to show their support and solidarity with the Appleton Fire Department.
An Appleton firefighter died after being shot at a transit center Wednesday evening.
The firefighter was airlifted to the Milwaukee area to be examined by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office. Early Thursday morning, first responders around the Milwaukee area shut down part of the freeway to hold a processional for the firefighter.
