Cudahy’s Pork King Good achieves national recognition
CUDAHY, Wisc. (CBS 58) --- A local bakery is supporting law enforcement and firefighters while remembering two heroes that died in the line of duty.
Jen's Sweet Treats in Cudahy held a brat and burger fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 6. They will also be holding a Super Bowl special on Sunday.
All proceeds from weekend sales will go to the Fallen Firefighters Foundations and the Nam Knights of America.
It has been two years since Milwaukee police officer Matthew Rittner was killed in the line of duty. 25-year-old Rittner was shot and killed while serving a search warrant on the city's south side. He was a member of the tactical enforcement unit and a 17-year veteran of the police force. He was also a Marine Corps veteran.
It has also been one year since Milwaukee firefighter Darrin "Superman" Jones died. He passed away in his sleep. HE was planning to retire soon after serving nearly three decades with the department.
Both Rittner and Jones left behind children and a wife.
"We just have to remember these guys," Jennifer Clark, owner of Jen's Sweet Treats said. "They both died heroes and we just have to celebrate their life."
Clark also held a fundraiser last year to help raise money to support Officer Rittner's family. She says there will be another fundraiser for local firefighters in a couple weeks.
