MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than a dozen women hopped into Third Space Brewing Company on Wednesday to mix up a special beer.

The group was from the Wisconsin chapter of the Pink Boots Society, an organization that supports women in the fermented beverage business.

On Wednesday, Third Space collaborated with the Pink Boots Society to brew their 'Like a Girl' IPA, which will be released on Mar. 8, International Women's Day.

This is the third year that Third Space has brewed 'Like a Girl' with the organization.

"Every year it's a little bit different. The aromas and flavor notes change depending on the hop blend that's chosen," said Wisconsin chapter leader Samantha Danen. "We're expecting sort of like tropical, citrus and herbal notes. A little woody as well."

'Like a Girl' will be distributed in cans, and on-tap at Third Space. A portion of the proceeds will go towards Pink Boots Society.

"We'll be able to use those funds in order to provide scholarships and fund educational opportunities for our members," Danen said.

The project gives female brewers a chance to share their skills with women from other parts of the industry, like sales or marketing.

"It's an art and a science, and you get to combine the two and create something, and when you nail it, you really nail it," said Pink Boots member Maggie Skinner.

It also celebrates women in brewing and acknowledges their history.

"Beer was made by women. That started with us," Skinner said. "It's just not a boys club anymore. We're all welcome here."

The main message of 'Like a Girl' is to show that anyone who wants to brew can brew, regardless of gender identity.

"Our mission is to show other women, and hopefully future generations of girls, that there is a place for them in this industry," Danen said.

Third Space will throw a release party for 'Like a Girl' on Mar. 8, International Women's Day.
