Lightning suspected in Beaver Dam house fire

A lightning strike is the suspected cause of a house fire this morning in Beaver Dam.  According to a news release from the Beaver Dam Fire/Rescue the fire, reported at 11 PM,  was located in the attic of a two story, single family home at Park and S Villa Avenues.    The family had evacuated the structure before firefighters arrived.  The family pets, a dog and two cats, were also safe.  There is no dollar amount of damage but according to officials, the attic  sustained significant damage and there was considerable water and smoke damage to the rest of the home.   The house is considered  uninhabitable and the occupants are staying with family members.  The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.   The Beaver Dam Fire Department was assisted by units from Juneau, Horicon, Fox Lake, Hustisford and Waterford Fire Departments.
