NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Any plumber will tell you toilet paper should be the only thing used when making that royal flush. Unfortunately, a lot of us are flushing sanitizing wipes and paper towels down the commode instead of throwing them away in the trash. Mike Hartlaub with Hartlaub Plumbing says what you're doing is harming the overall septic system, causing backups and overflows at wastewater treatment facilities.
The experts say be careful pouring draining fluid into a clogged sink. It can actually harm the piping. Instead, use an enzyme drain cleaner, each week if you can, for better maintenance.
