Snow is beginning to fall in western Wisconsin, but we still have a few hours of dry weather before flakes start flying locally.

Snow overspreads the area after midnight and will be widespread for most of Sunday morning.

Snow will become more isolated and taper off to flurries through the course of the afternoon and early evening.

We'll likely pick up 1.5 to 2.5" of accumulation with this event. Most of the snow will accumulate before noon.

Temps will be in the low 30s when most of the snow is falling during the morning. Temps rise a few degrees above freezing midday into the afternoon, which should help roads conditions improve. If you're traveling Sunday morning, plan on slick roads and low visibility and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.

Once the snow ends, winds will turn gusty Sunday evening through Monday morning with gusts around 30 mph. The stronger wind combined with temps in the teens will make it feel like the single digits early Monday morning.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)--Not the perfect timing here.  One of the busiest travel days of the year, and the weather won't be cooperating much, especially the first part of Sunday into the early afternoon.  Light snowfall will break out late Saturday evening and continue through at least lunch on Sunday.  At least one to two inches of snow can be expected.  And with temperatures below freezing through the morning hours, look for slick spots, especially in favored areas like bridges and overpasses and on and off ramps.

We get behind a front into Sunday evening, and a real chill sets up at least to start the week.  Highs on Monday for most will stay in the 20s! Look for a modification with the numbers by midweek with highs near 40 by Wednesday.  We also have a chance of mainly rain on Friday at some point. Obviously enough mild air will give us liquid precipitation then.
