MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --

Milwaukee police have a suspect in custody after an hours long standoff with police at a home in Milwaukee Wednesday morning.

The suspect was inside a home near 70th and Main in Milwaukee during the standoff.

The suspect fled there to his friend’s home after a domestic violence incident in Beloit overnight.

“She was absolutely scared," Cortez Bell said. "You know, you got police coming. You got SWAT coming getting ready to knock in your door so anybody would be scared in that type of situation I’m sure.”

The man Milwaukee police arrested this morning fled Beloit after a domestic violence incident around 1:30 a.m. where police say the suspect was armed and made threats to police. He showed up at Cortez Bell’s sister’s home next door to him.

“She was totally unaware of the activity he was involved in before he came here," Bell said.

When bell arrived home from work blocks and blocks were taped off and there were police everywhere.

“It did make me nervous because my sister has kids in there so at the end of the day that’s the priority," Bell said.

Cortez says the standoff finally ended around 6:30 Wednesday morning.

“They called him over the loud speaker," Bell said. "He came out . He came out to surrender. I guess they called my sister out which is protocol and she came out and she surrendered and they went in and searched the house. Nothing was in the house and i guess the situation was dead after that.”

Fortunately, no one was injured, including nine-year-old twins inside the home, but the whole ordeal gave neighbors a scare.

“Typically, me and my daughter catch the bus but we decided not to go out because i wasn’t sure what was going on," Renee White said.

Bell has some advice for parents after this incident.

“Watch your kids and watch who you have around your kids because at the end of the day they need their parents love," Bell said.
