MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's oldest movie theater has shut its doors.
Landmark's Downer Theatre shared the news in a post on social media Tuesday night, Sept. 19, thanking the community for support after many years in operation.
The theatre first opened in 1915 and has been a staple on Milwaukee's east side.
A statement released by Landmark Theatres Wednesday, said:
"Landmark Theatres is constantly evaluating its business strategy and has decided to close the Landmark Downer Theatre. We are proud to have served it’s [sic] community over its many years of operation.
We look forward to adding new Landmark Theatres soon, including our newest locartion [sic], Landmark Theatre Sunset, that opened this summer, on 06.15 in Los Angeles California."
