MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kohl's, a Wisconsin-based department store chain, has named Dave Alves as its new President and Chief Operating Officer.

With over 30 years of experience in the retail industry, Alves will be responsible for managing Kohl's enterprise operations, including its global supply chain, distribution centers, real estate portfolio and purchasing, among other functions.

He will report to CEO Tom Kingsbury and assume his new role in April.

"We are thrilled to have Dave join our senior leadership team as we drive the business forward," said Kingsbury in a press release that accompanied the announcement on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

He added, "Kohl's is a tremendous company with a strong and loyal customer base, and Dave is joining us at a time when we are elevating our business and our offerings for the next generation of shoppers."

Alves has held leadership roles in several retail organizations, including Bealls Retail Group, TJX Canada,and Hudson's Bay.
