Kohl's Hosts Shopping Spree for Survivors Ahead of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Kohl's, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, hosted an exclusive shopping event Wednesday for 80 survivors and top event participants as a thank you for their commitment to the fight against breast cancer.
Suzanne Wickersham laughed heartily as she picked the perfect outfit. Her ready smile belies the health crisis she faced at 42.
"I was diagnosed January 2nd of last year," she told CBS 58 News. "I went through treatment and finished last radiation treatment almost one year to the date of today. So, so far so good."
Kohl's picked up the bill for each participant as they selected footwear, apparel and accessories that they need to gear up for the 2016 American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Saturday, May 7.
"It's such an important cause." declared Tara Geiter of Kohl's. "So many women and men are affected by this invasive disease. We're just happy to support them."
The event kicks off Kohl's support of the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk more than one thousand Kohl's associates, family and friends will walk with the Milwaukee community to fight back against the disease.
Kohl's role as the exclusive presenting sponsor of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is just one component of the company's investment in the fight against breast cancer.
Kohl's and Kohl's Cares have committed more than $9.8 million to the American Cancer Society to bring programs, services and support to women and families throughout the area.
As Cody Allen with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Milwaukee put it, "Our event would not be what it is today without Kohl's."
