Kettle Moraine Middle School students learn music from Emmy award-winning composer

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Some lucky students from Kettle Moraine Middle School in Waukesha County got the chance to rock out to classical and rock music with an Emmy award-winning composer.

Violinist Mark Wood is one of the founding members of the Transiberian Orchestra. He spent time teaching musicians at the school as part of his 'Electrify Your Strings Music Education Program.'

That program is now in its 18th year.

Wood says his approach to teaching music is different than what most people might expect.

"Here I come in with this thing and I'm saying things like let's remove the music stands, let's take away the music, let's communicate as one on one," said Mark Wood.

Wood will perform with the students at a concert in the high school's auditorium Thursday night at 7 p.m.
