Kenosha standoff ends with arrest; one woman dead
KENOSHA -- One woman is dead after a Kenosha standoff that lasted ten hours near the intersection of 21st Ave. and 57th St. Police have also confirmed they have arrested one man at the conclusion of this standoff.
Kenosha Police were first called to the scene when a possible shooting was reported at 5:10 a.m.
A neighbor told CBS 58, the suspect is a veteran, and often heard the couple arguing. Robert Herzog, Jr. says his father lives next door to the house. He says his father heard gunshots, and breaking windows.
Police say a man on oxygen was freed from the house during the early hours of the standoff. They believed no one else was in the house with the suspect. That's why police thought they could take their time negotiating with the suspect.
Our Lane Kimble says around 1:30 a.m. he heard two pops from the house, and saw two ambulances head toward the house.
Police negotiated with the man until about 3:00 p.m. before breaching the residence. We're told the suspect was arrested with little resistance.
After arresting the suspect, police found the body of a woman in the basement. Police are not identifying the to the media, but said he was born in 1975.
Frank Elementary School was placed on lockdown for the duration of the standoff.
