Kenosha police make arrest in 1977 homicide after cold case unit reopens investigation
Ralph Gianoli / Kenosha Police Department KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha police arrested James Terry Fowler in Memphis, Tenn. on Monday, March 30 for a charge of first-degree homicide in connection with the 1977 killing of Ralph Ambrose Gianoli, according to the department.
Gianoli was found dead at his home on 25th Ave. in Kenosha on Sept. 7, 1977. An autopsy determined he died from blunt force trauma to the head and abdomen.
The case went unsolved after all leads were exhausted.
The department's cold case unit reopened the investigation in Oct. 2021. Working with the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the FBI, detectives say they used advanced evidence-processing techniques that led to a suspect being identified in July 2024.
A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 at 1 p.m. at the Kenosha Public Museum.
