KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The 30th annual Kenosha Kindness Week runs Jan. 16 through 24 with events celebrating compassion, community connection and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Nikki Payne and Cameron Swallow, committee members for Kenosha Kindness Week, joined us on Wednesday, Jan. 14 to talk about the week of activities. The Kenosha Coalition for Dismantling Racism is hosting the events under this year's theme, "Empowering Kenosha County - One Kind Act at a Time."

The signature event is the Annual Community Unity Breakfast & Awards Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at Bradford High School cafeteria. Students from across Kenosha County will be recognized for their artwork, essays and acts of kindness. The event is free and open to the public.

A Courageous Conversation will take place Tuesday, Jan. 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Civil War Museum. Judge Derek Mosely will lead a discussion on diversity, inclusivity, Black history and the Beloved Community.

  • Take Home Activities from the Kenosha Public Library, Jan. 18-24
  • Museum Munchkins – Animal Friendships, Wednesday, Jan. 21, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Kenosha Public Museum
  • Meals on Wheels Volunteer Day, Wednesday, Jan. 21, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at KAFASI
  • Urban League of Racine and Kenosha Salute to MLK Jr., Thursday, Jan. 23
  • NAACP Prayer Breakfast, Saturday, Jan. 24, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Shalom Center
  • Kindness Social & Giveback, Monday, Jan. 27, 4:45 to 7 p.m. at the Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood
