Kenosha Co. officials: Callers posing as law enforcement, asking local taverns for donations

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Deputies are investigating several fraud complaints at local taverns in Kenosha County.

Officials say on Sunday, April 11, individuals posing as law enforcement officers asked several area bars for money.

According to the Kenosha Sheriff's Department (KSD), tavern owners have reported receiving a call to their business from an individual stating they were from KSD and were working with an organization called "Police and Sheriff's Coalition."

The caller would then ask for donations, stating that the money would go toward school supplies for children, Shop with a Cop and the D.A.R.E. program. The caller would then advise that they would send a volunteer to collect the money.

The department says they are in no way connected to these callers or a "Police and Sheriff's Coalition" organization.

If you're contact by one of these individuals, please contact KSD at 262-656-7333.
