MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The jury trial begins Monday for the Milwaukee man accused of shooting and killing three of his neighbors in what the victim’s family calls a hate crime.
41-year-old Dan Popp pleaded guilty. Jurors will now determine his mental state.
Popp’s attorney says his client has a condition that made it impossible for him to realize what he was doing was wrong.
Popp shot Phia and Mai Vue in front of their children in 2016 at an apartment complex near 92nd and Beloit.
He’s also accused of shooting another neighbor, Jesus Manso-Perez.
