Johnson Creek EMS offering free rides on New Year's Eve

JOHNSON CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Johnson Creek Fire & EMS Department is offering free New Year's Eve rides if you live in the area.

In an effort to keep residents safe, the Johnson Creek Fire & EMS Department is offering rides to those who find themselves in situations where they shouldn't drive or they find themselves in a situation where the driver is impaired.

According to a Facebook post by the department, they will take residents home between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. for free.

Here are the rules from the department regarding the free rides:

  • One end of the transport must be in the Johnson Creek fire protection area and the other to an adjacent district, or simply within the JC area.
  • We will transport from an establishment (bar or restaurant) to a residence, or residence to a residence. We will not transport from an establishment to another establishment.
  • When you call be prepared with the address for pickup and the address of the destination. We will also need your contact phone number and how many need a ride. (We can transport only three at a time, but can return to pick up people if there are more than three.
  • Make sure you are in a place where you can stay inside and stay warm until we arrive. If there are many simultaneous requests, there could be a wait.
