JJ Watt gives update on Harvey relief and announces partner charities

HOUSTON (CBS 58) -- Pewaukee native and Houston Texans star J.J. Watt released a new video Thursday afternoon giving an update on the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

In the video message, Watt said the focus of the relief will be on rebuilding homes, restore child care centers and after school programs, provide food for those who need it and physical and mental medical services.

The Watt Foundation is partnering with four foundations that have "boots on the ground" in Houston to achieve their relief goals. SBP will handle rebuilding homes, Save the Children will handle the childcare, Feeding America will feed those in need and AmeriCares will handle medical services.

Watt said the rebuilding process will likely take at least 18 to 24 months.

Watt raised over $37 million after an original goal of just $200,000.
