FREDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- JCC Rainbow Day Camp is providing visually impaired children an equal opportunity in athletics. 

The summer camp partnered with Vision Forward for a week of adaptive sports fun on Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31. 

All the activities are tailored towards kids with vision loss, some of which include rock climbing, swimming and goalball.

According to Vision Forward, an estimated 70% of school aged children who are blind, have never participated in sports or physical activities. Vision Forward says they are committed to changing that statistic.

The non-profit's CEO, Jaclyn Borchardt, says campers are developing skills that transcend beyond just sports. 

"It's important that kids get exposure to a wide array of different activities for our children, many cases they are learning through their other senses, through their sense of touch, through their sense of hearing and giving them a wide array of exposure and activities, helps them build those concepts and learn about the world around them," says Borchardt. 

Vision Forward has aimed to help people who are visually impaired achieve their goals or over 100 years.
