January is Milwaukee's snowiest month

January is Milwaukee's snowiest month on record.  In a typical January Milwaukee records over 14" of snow.  The record is 52.6" in 1918.

Over the last 5 years we've been nowhere near that record; however, last year was pretty interesting.  The first half of the month there was only 0.2" of snow.  The second half featured 20".  I'm wondering if our current pattern will be similar.

Over the next several days there will be some chances for light snow.  Late Friday into Saturday morning and then again on Sunday.  Expected totals will be lower than 2".

Over the next 10 days the prospect for a major winter storm is looking rather weak.
