January 6: A Day to Be Unhappy

(Milwaukee)--On January 6, you have the right to be unhappy. A British social scientist has declared the day to be the saddest day of the year. Of course the unprecedented chill might be one of the big reasons you are frowning.

Many of us have gotten winter fatigue since it feels like it’s been winter for so long, and we’re only two and a half weeks into the season.
One local psychiatrist we spoke with says this type of feeling is considered to be part of a more serious issue. It's called Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD. He says it’s a kind of depression with” easy to detect” symptoms, such as lack of energy and a need for carbohydrates. Intense light therapy and antidepressants are two treatments.

January 6 is also believed to be the day most people file for divorce. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are the two happiest days of the year, by the way.
